Verra is updating its Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ (JNR) Framework within the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program to align with the Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM). This move reinforces the VCS Program’s commitment to high-quality carbon credits, recognized earlier this year for meeting CCPs criteria.

The JNR Framework is the pioneering tool for jurisdictional REDD+ programs and nested projects, integrating national accounting with local project activities. The updates, effective immediately, cover several key documents, including the JNR Non-Permanence Risk Tool and JNR Registration and Issuance Process.

JNR programs currently in development or validation can use the previous version of documents until their forest reference emission level (FREL) reassessment. For more information, click here!
