Verra Launches New Methodology VM0049 for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)

June 28, 2024

VM0049 offers a global framework for CCS activities that generate carbon dioxide removals (CDRs) and emission reductions, essential for corporate net zero strategies.
CCS captures CO2 directly from the atmosphere or industrial sources, transporting it (if needed) and storing it safely underground. This technology is key for reducing emissions in sectors like cement manufacturing, oil and gas, and power generation.

VM0049 includes adaptable modules for various CCS activities, enabling tailored project designs and future innovations. The first modules, covering direct air capture, CO2 transport, and storage in saline aquifers and depleted oil and gas reservoirs, will be released soon.
