Qarlbo Biodiversity has achieved a historic milestone by completing the first-ever voluntary biodiversity credit sale in the United States, partnering with 6M Properties LLC. This groundbreaking transaction centers on a 10,576-acre longleaf pine restoration project in Merryville, Louisiana, aiming to revitalize one of North America’s most threatened ecosystems.
Qarlbo’s proprietary credit methodology, developed in Sweden, underpins this initiative, ensuring measurable and verifiable biodiversity outcomes. This approach has already facilitated successful biodiversity credit transactions in Europe, setting a precedent for market-based conservation efforts.
“This transaction is a groundbreaking milestone for conservation finance,” stated Aleksandra Holmlund, CEO of Qarlbo Biodiversity. “It demonstrates clear market demand and a growing supply of practical solutions for channeling private capital into projects that deliver measurable financial, environmental, and operational outcomes.”
