Nestlé is on Track to Halve Emissions by 2030

July 12, 2025

The company has already reached 20% reductions, ahead of schedule!

This milestone reflects real progress through science-based targets, supplier engagement, and a clear focus on Scope 3 emissions, which account for 95% of Nestlé’s footprint.

But the path forward raises important questions. Nestlé plans to increase its use of carbon removals nearly eightfold by 2030, leaning heavily on nature-based and regenerative practices. This brings urgency to issues around verification, permanence, and scale.

At Viresco, we see three key takeaways:
✅ Scope 3 progress is possible with the right incentives and partnerships
✅ Removals must be high-integrity, not a substitute for real reductions
✅ Agricultural innovation, especially on methane, will be critical to delivering credible climate outcomes
