Canada and Ontario are working together to protect biodiversity and species at risk by expanding protected areas! Just yesterday, a $10 million federal investment over three years was announced! This funding will enhance conservation efforts, adding 420,000 acres of new protected areas across the province. It also aligns with Canada’s goal to protect 30% of land and water by 2030.

The initiative will have a focus on safeguarding forests, wetlands, and ecologically sensitive regions. It will also offer additional support for private land protection and conservation tools to further strengthen these efforts.
