In Alberta, Korova Feeders Ltd. is leading the way in sustainability with its groundbreaking New Productoin System. This family-owned business is setting a remarkable example for sustainable practices. They have a visionary project valued at $69 million, which is currently in full-scale implementation and poised to transform Alberta’s feedlot industry. Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) is supporting this initiative with a $5 million commitment. At the heart of this ambitious endeavor is a genuine commitment to sustainability from Korova Feeders Ltd. and the support of Viresco Solutions Inc. in assessing the project’s greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction porential during the ERA Food, Farming, and Forestry Challenge application. The New Production System, which features the innovative use of rolled compacted concrete (RCC) and Bio-Digester technology aims to reduce GHG emissions by approximately 0.73 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) per head per year, totaling around 25,000 tCO2e for the entire, 34,000-head feedlot.
