EU Sustainability Rules Under Fire as Industry Pushes Back

Nearly 200 organizations, including Allianz, IKEA, Vattenfall, and Nordea, are urging the EU to protect key sustainability reporting and due diligence laws. They argue that weakening the CSRD and CSDDD could harm long-term growth, transparency, and investor trust.

Current proposals could exclude 80% of firms from reporting requirements by raising employee thresholds. The coalition supports simplification but warns against cutting core rules like climate transition plans and science-based targets.
