Verra has announced the registration of the first project using a Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) methodology recognized by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) as meeting the Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) under its Assessment Framework.
The Tond Tenga project in Burkina Faso marks this milestone. Registered under the VCS Program, it applies Verra’s VM0047 methodology for Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation to restore over 12,000 hectares of degraded land through native tree planting and agroforestry. VM0047 received ICVCM approval in December 2024, making all credits generated under this methodology eligible for CCP labeling.
